DXC-R (Sydney Unite 2019 Showcase) A prototype for a platform that was designed to host a range of AR and VR training exercises both on mobile and standalone headsets for DXC and their clients.
DXC-R Submission form I wanted our teams clients to be able to embrace the power of AR and VR and get their app ideas onto DXC-R platform in the easiest and cheapest way possible. This is where this submission form comes in. This form is designed for users who have little technical experience but have a great idea they want to develop. The form explains what each option is and how it could enhance their experience using clear text and example videos. An easy step by step wizard also ensures that the user never misses a step and helps them describe their idea to the DXC team. Once the user has submitted the form, a DXC member will contact the user to help them get the app onto DXC-R with an average turn around time of less than a month depending on if assets need to be created or have been provided.
DXC Induction App An interactive VR experience where new employees to DXC Technology were able to see and get a better understanding of what the company does on a global scale. The app also allowed the CEO, CTO's and Team Leads to record and upload welcome messages and pictures through a CMS system.
AR Technician Application for one of DXC's clients where field technicians could search for the problem they are having and get a step by step augmented hologram that shows how to fix the problem.
Contagion Designed to teach primary school kids the dangers of the internet, Contagion is an AR tower defence game where kids have to defend visualizations of their internet identity such as social media and email from cyber attacks who represent viruses such as data breaches and network worms.
Blockchain Explained This app was designed to explain the basics of how blockchain works and a range of use cases that could benefit from the technology. These lessons were designed to help teach someone who knows little to nothing about blockchain up to a level where they could then be able to then explain the technology to potential clients. The application also had the ability to do AR based lessons where the video would have animated models that helped explain what the video was teaching.
AR Scrum board This project was one of many prototypes made for a massive project where I tried to find ways to make distributed agile teams more effective. I found that our clients loved the idea of still having a scrum board with post it notes rather than using software such as Trello as it allowed them to personalize it to their teams needs and find information about their projects faster. This prototype also had an AI assistant where users could ask it to bring up certain information about projects and their team members.
Micro-Learning For this project my teams client had discovered that a majority of their employees were not using their software to the fullest potential and that everyone had a different amount of experience when it came to doing certain tasks. The Client wanted a way where users could learn new skills but also not waste their time relearning things they already knew. This prototype was designed to allow users to learn new skills for software within their workplace, such as setting up a Skype meeting through Outlook, but in a way where they could skip parts they already knew and go straight to the area they are having problems with. The app would also show little known secrets that could increase productivity.
Employee Sentiment Survey One of my teams clients wanted a way where they could get feedback from their employees about the software that was being used in their workplace but didn't want to hand out just another quarterly survey that a majority of the employees would just ignore it or would had forgotten how they felt.
This prototype was designed so users could fill out the survey whenever and however they wanted with everything in the app being 100% optional and the UI being designed to have as little text possible. If the user had just had a bad experience with out Outlook for example, they could load up the app from their desktop and give that feedback within 90 seconds while it was still fresh in their minds.
VR Room This prototype was one of many made for a massive project where I tried to find ways to make distributed agile teams more effective. Our client wanted a way for their distribute employees to have more engaging meetings compared to what they got from Skype calls which was known to be less productive when it came to ideation meetings. I decided to look at how local teams were behaving and tried to duplicate that into a VR experience.
I liked how local teams were using whiteboard to brain storm and tried duplicating this in VR where everyone had their own monitor they could draw on that would then be shared with the whole team on their monitors or on a big screen depending on what the host wanted.
Another thing I noticed that local teams were doing, that was difficult for distributed teams, was sharing documents with each other mid meeting. Distributed teams often had to leave a meeting for a few minutes while they looked for a document to email to the team while local teams usually had the documents printed ready to go and just handed them out to the team. I wanted to create the same experience for distributed teams, so I came up with the briefcase system. Before a user joins a VR session they have the option to set up a briefcase through a separate desktop companion app.
The briefcases act similar to a .zip file where the user adds assets to the briefcase that are then stored in an inventory that's linked to their account. When a user goes to join a meeting they are given the option to grab a briefcase on their way in which then loads the documents into the meeting. This allows the users to share documents in the briefcase with the team either publicly or to certain users privately within seconds and without having to leave the meeting. Users also have the option to save the documents they have received from in a meeting into their briefcase which can then be downloaded from their companion app.
VR Room Companion app This pc application is designed to be used along side the VR Room Headset app allowing users to book VR rooms, Invite members, and prepare their "suitcases" for upcoming meetings. The briefcase system is designed to work how you would expect a real life suitcase to work where it would hold a bunch of files that you can take into a meeting with you and share among other members in the meeting. for more info on the VR Room app, look at the previous project.
Financial Wellbeing App
After the royal commission, our client wanted a way to show their users that they care about them and wanted an app that could help their customers better their financial wellbeing through self help. This app was one of many designs that I came up with that allowed users to see visualisations of their funds and financial wellbeing.
This Design was based of a range of fitness apps where the user is able to do daily or monthly check ins entering their spending habits and the app would then provide a health score based on other users in their area along with tips to help improve their score such as getting cheaper car insurance or changing internet provider. The app has an AR feature where the user can view 3D visualisations of their monthly income and how it's being spent to help the user understand how much money they are spending and potentially wasting.
The app also includes assistants that help the user with a range of spending habits or upcoming events such as a coffee tracker that helps users limit how much coffee they purchasing or a "treat your self day" assistant where the user could put some money away and the app would tell the user if that amount is safe.
Users could also put their funds through different scenarios to see how well they would do followed by tips on how they could better their situation. They include Losing their job, Moving house, wedding, and retiring.
